Designing for gamified education
This project was a cooperation with SKIDOS GAMES, a subscription-based service for educational mobile games for young kids. Herein we developed the concept for a parent app to accompany their service and provide a way for parents to track their childrens' educational progress.
Design Process
The design process went through different phases. Here we explored and discovered the problem, researched the user experience, designed the interface for our solution and finally tested the prototype with real users.
The problem

Ingrained complexity
Homeschooling, parental involvement and social media are all ingrained in the complex context Skidos was attempting to navigate.
Exploring the problem we found that existing parent apps did not provide the correct value for parents who wanted to follow their children's educational progress. Furthermore we sought to integrate proper value into SKIDOS GAMES business model to improve their business proposition.
Design system
We utilised a atomic approach to designing UI, by building relevant components and features parallel to ideation and setting the scope of the solution. Herein the production of high-fidelity interfaces could be sped up and a stylistic look could be established early on.
Conclusion
Through a value-sensitive approach we sought to improve the parental user experience of SKIDOS GAMES through holistic change of the way in which parents interacted with their service.
